As part of a familiarisation tour intended to promote cooperation and support for the successful and seamless operation of the Commission, the Board Members of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D., CON, who also serves as the Chairman of the North West Governors Forum, on Monday, February 17, 2025. The Meeting took place at the Katsina State Government House. The purpose of the tour was to promote cooperation and look for direction for the growth of the area.
The Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on NWDC, Sen. Muntari Dandutse, emphasized that the commission sought the input of regional leaders to address critical challenges. He noted that Governor Radda was the first North West governor to be consulted, highlighting his role as Chairman of the North West Governors' Forum.
Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma'aji, MD/CEO of the Commission, revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR established the commission to address the region's developmental needs, particularly in areas affected by insecurity. He assured that the commission would work closely with state governments to implement projects aimed at rehabilitating and revitalizing the region.

Governor Radda also emphasized the importance of agriculture and education in driving economic growth, noting that his administration had employed 7,325 teachers and constructed 150 primary and secondary schools to improve education in Katsina State. He pledged the full support of North West Governors to the Commission, ensuring collaboration for the region's progress.
