Earlier today, the Board Members of the North-West Development Commission, led by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, at the Government House in Sokoto.  

During the visit, the board members introduced themselves to the governor, emphasizing Sokoto State's membership in the commission and the collective commitment to fostering regional development. The delegation highlighted the commission's mandate to drive sustainable development initiatives across the North West region, addressing critical areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.  

Governor Ahmad Aliyu expressed his delight at the initiative and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for establishing the North-West Development Commission. He noted that the commission is a vital instrument for addressing the developmental challenges faced by the region and pledged the full support of the Sokoto State Government to ensure the success of its programs.  

In a significant show of support, the governor graciously granted the commission's requests for a state office, operational vehicles, and other essential services to facilitate their operations in Sokoto State. This gesture underscores the state government's commitment to partnering with the commission to achieve its objectives.  

In his remarks, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the commission, thanked the governor and the government of Sokoto State for the warm reception. He reiterated the commission's commitment to working closely with the state government and other stakeholders to implement projects that would positively impact the lives of the people in the region.  

As a gesture of goodwill, Governor Ahmad Aliyu presented souvenirs to the delegation and wished them success in their endeavors. The visit concluded on a high note, with both parties reaffirming their dedication to collaboration and the shared vision of a prosperous North West region.
